I used this unit to scan several pics and they turned out great with easy conversion direct into my PC. No issues with installed software. Also, yes it doesn't come with the black ink and the color is a "free" teaser size and does run out fast. Ink is readily available at Office Depot and on their website currently. Also available at other local and on-line retailers. It prints and scans great. Have had this unit for a while. I don't see mention in the reviews other than ink concerns. I had no issues using this unit. $50 and it's a deal, no reason to pay more than that with shipping as it is available at that price. Get more detail about Lexmark X2690 - Multifunction ( printer / copier / scanner ) - color - ink-jet - printing (up to): 22 ppm (mono) / 16 ppm (color) - 100 sheets - USB.
