Save HP K5400 Officejet Pro Color Printer

My printer is less then an year old, and I wanted to it work with Windows 7. So I went to HP's web site to look for updates. Well they tell you that Windows 7 has a limited support for the Officejet K5400. No check more aline the ink, how full are your printer ink tanks. So I called. I just wanted to know if HP was going to support this printer. They asked for the serial number, and told me they could not help me. I did not want a repair, I just wanted to know if they were going to make a driver for this printer or not. I thought it was a simple question.
All I got was sorry your printer is out of warranty- we cant help you.

This printer is less then a year old. THINK ABOUT THAT. HP refuses to talk to me about drivers because less then one year old printer is out of warrnity. I am not talking about if it's working- I am talking about if they are going to make a driver for a year old printer. It would be like "sorry your car is a year old, we don't make wheels for it anymore, go away." This printer has been very reliable for me, and printed more then 50 reams of paper. All I wanted was to know if they were going to make a driver for it.

I think this will be my last HP printer. IF I had to buy right now a new printer it would not be from HP.Get more detail about HP K5400 Officejet Pro Color Printer.

Error 6A00. You better look up the code before you even consider this. First one lasted 3 months, second one lasted 4 months. The mechanism on the inside jams up. Cheapest Konica Minolta magicolor 1690MF - Multifunction ( fax / copier / printer / scanner ) - color - laser - copying (up to): 21 ppm (mono) / 3.5 ppm (color) - printing (up to): 20 ppm (mono) / 5 ppm (color) - 200 sheets - 33.6 Kbps - Hi-Speed USB, 10/100 Base-TX

On the positive side, it prints very quickly in black, a little slower in color (it's a four-pass CMYK printer, meaning it prints Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black in individual runs or passes) but the quality of the color images are fantastic and are only limited by the quality of paper used. It scans acceptably well, not spectacular, but more than well enough for my needs. Haven't tried the fax portion and don't foresee doing so.

There are only two negatives that I've found: the machine is noisy even when not in use; it has a loud cooling fan that will run for a long time (more than 20 minutes); and it's shipped with what seems like only a few drops of black toner. If you buy this printer and plan to do any amount of printing right away, you need to get more black toner, pronto. The toner cartridge that came with it lasted less than a week with moderate usage.

So far I like it and would recommend it. The printer part of it gets five stars, the scanner four stars. The other qualities--noise, set up, features--bring the overall rating to four stars.Get more detail about Konica Minolta magicolor 1690MF - Multifunction ( fax / copier / printer / scanner ) - color - laser - copying (up to): 21 ppm (mono) / 3.5 ppm (color) - printing (up to): 20 ppm (mono) / 5 ppm (color) - 200 sheets - 33.6 Kbps - Hi-Speed USB, 10/100 Base-TX.

Cheap HP Deskjet 5940 Photo Printer (C9017A#B1H)

bought this printer 2 years ago while i was in college.

- within first month of owning it a plastic object broke off (the auto detecttion for open cover). so for 2 year ive had an old pair of scissors propped into the place where the plastic broke off just to get the machine to work.
- the plastic paper holder broke off rather easily, so ive had to place a piece of cardboard under the printer to hold the paper to feed.
- exp. freq. printer jams + bad prints. off set type
- ink cartridge spilled a ton of ink. just realized that as i removed a gum-sized hardened ink from the bottom of the printer. so it must have been wasting ink the whole time as well.

works fine for basic printing needs (words only), image quality for photos or images is pretty basic. but really, this printer is poorly made.

looks nice but its a dud.

Epson NX400 all-in-one Printer Buy Now

I bought three of these printers. Part of my business involves printing custom gift certificates at local area malls. These things are cheap, shiny vacuums that suck your ink dollars right out of your wallet and transmit them to Epson. Don't buy one!!!! 1) The NX400 won't print at all (even in black) if ANY one cartridge has been 'deemed' empty. 2) cartridges 'deemed' empty have PLENTY of ink in them (just shake one) 3)They go 'empty' FAST - even if you aren't using that color! 4) they have chips on the cartridge that 'reminds' the software that it is empty so you can't use the rest of the ink or refill it 5) the cartridges are expensive 6) it is such a blatant ink scam it leaves me pining for the days when they took a little time to camouflage crap they sold you. It is so frustrating to have work that needs to be done and have to drive to the store and fork over $40 so you can print a few more pages. I'd like to return these right through their CEO's corporate window...whoever that is....Darth someone probably.....This is the last EPSON purchase I will ever make (and I have been spreading the word so others are warned).Get more detail about Epson NX400 all-in-one Printer.

Samsung SCX-4826 Laser Multi-Function Printer Order Now

I agree with the reviewer from May - great little machine (made even better if you know what you are doing). We had no problems installing. Printing is fast and the output is beautiful. We went from a tiny personal Minolta laser printer that had put in a few great years to this for a few reasons. The Minolta was having a few problems that I was sick of dealing with, I was tired of manually duplexing, and we really wanted an auto document fed scanner (ADF). Now I just need to find a program that can automatically OCR and index the documents...

I didn't install the indexing software they included, so I guess I avoided that pitfall. I have had the SCX-4826fn a couple of months and love it. I haven't used the fax yet, but that's not what I bought it for. I bought it because it was the only laser ADF MFP with automatic duplexing in a reasonable price range! Nothing else even came close!

I only have a few minor complaints (really minor):
-The duplexing isn't smart. If you set (in printer preferences) to auto duplex (my preference is long side), it will duplex a printout of a single page. On the other hand, the duplexing is really quite fast.
-The manual paper feed tends to crinkle the sides or go in slightly crooked. But since it's got the auto duplexing function, I hardly use this.
-It doesn't default to the last scan's setting. Or if you set the preferences up with the driver on the computer, you still have to scroll past 'Scan to USB' to get to 'Scan to Computer'. I was really hoping for a 1-touch scan so I could get these stacks of old paperwork out of my office quickly.

Per the remark about not being able to scan a B&W (mono) PDF from the control panel on the printer - I do it all the time with no problems.

I didn't want to write my review too soon without trying out all the features, but I figured my experiences were at least now worth 2 cents. OfficeMax has it for $199 this week with $70 in MaxPerks (gift card) and I'm tempted to buy another one!Get more detail about Samsung SCX-4826 Laser Multi-Function Printer.

Canon PIXMA iP4200 Photo Printer Decide Now

Canon makes competent printers at low prices, but be aware that you need to use the expensive Canon brand ink. Canons are notorious for clogging when much less expensive non-Canon replacement inks are used, and Canon has other little tricks such as including chips on the ink cartridges so that a half-full non-Canon replacement cartridge may register as empty. I have years of experience with Canons, including the IP4200; I'm tired of these tricks--it's Epson or HP from now on for me.Get more detail about Canon PIXMA iP4200 Photo Printer.

HP LaserJet 1020 Printer (Q5911A#ABA) Best Quality

These printers were (are) a dime-a-dozen and can be found on the cheap (~$40). I happened to come across a couple of these printers (still New-In-Box) and hung them off a couple computers. They are simple, no-frills, monochrome laser printers that I have found to do a decent job, although there is a reportedly a bug in the spooler when dealing with large PDF files. Read the other reviews and forums for the details. The purpose of this "review" is to possibly save others from the headache I first had with these printers when trying to access them across a LAN as a printer share under Windows Vista (64). I had the same headache that many others have faced (google reveals many forums on this subject, "Laserjet 1020 will only print test pages over a LAN") getting this printer to work by "connecting" to it as a printer share. However, I finally did get it to work wonderfully over a network. Install the printer on the host (local) machine and share as you normally would, however on the client (remote) machine(s):

- Do NOT install any drivers. Vista already has built-in HP drivers for this printer that will work fine.

- Do NOT "connect" to this printer as you normally would for a network printer share.
(I.e., navigating to \\HOSTNAME\PRINTERNAME, right-clicking, and selecting "connect".)
Instead:

- Go to Control Panel --> Printers (or Start --> Printers)

- Select "Add a Printer" in the top menu

- Select "Add a Local Printer"
(Bear with me, this will become network printer)

- Select "Create a New Port"

- Select "Local Port"
(Continue bearing with me, this will become a network printer)

- Select "Next"

- A dialogue box will appear for you to "Enter A Port Name"

- Enter the absolute network path to the printer, i.e., \\HOSTNAME\PRINTERNAME
- Select "OK"

- A dialogue box will appear having you select the printer from a list of pre-installed drivers in Vista, choose HP on left and Laserjet 1020 on right.
Don't worry, this will be a proprietary HP driver for the Laserjet 1020 under Vista and not just a Microsoft basic printer driver.
You will have full functionality and options.

- The printer should now be in your list of printers and working over the network.
(Test it out by printing a test page, printing from a web browser, word processor, etc.)

A nice advantage to installing the printer in this manner is that since the printer is "local" (although using remote port), you will have full control over all the print options in the driver. A printer icon will also appear in your system tray when you print as well. Double clicking it shows the printer que, just the same as if the printer truly was local.

Only small caveat with this method is that since the drivers are really "attached" to the port, the remote printer is always going to appear online and "Ready" even if it is turned off.

Works fine with Linux (all distros, all arch) as well. Download and build the drivers from source.

Canon Selphy ES3 Compact Photo Printer (White) (2675B001) Get it now!

I just recently purchased a Canon Selphy ES3 printer and have only printed about 50 prints with it. However, of those that I have printed, I must say that the print quality is excellent, the color rendition is every bit as good as any that I have seen from a professional photo lab, and the prints seem to be quite durable. The only thing that I see as a possible concern is that the prints sometimes seem a bit darker than the view on the LCD screen, but there are ways around that, for sure. The cost per print does not seem to be too far out of line with that of professional photo labs. I would not hesitate to purchase this product again, especially at the fair price that the seller was offering it at. All in all, this is a fine product that is worthy of serious consideration by anyone wishing to obtain a quality photo printer for a reasonable price. Thanks to Canon and the seller for a wonderful product!Get more detail about Canon Selphy ES3 Compact Photo Printer (White) (2675B001).

Canon PIXMA iP90v Photo Inkjet Printer (2238B002) This instant

I bought the canon ip80, the canon ip90 and finally the canon ip90v because of the portability. All of them failed long before the should have. I will never buy a canon product again. They are marketed to be mobile but they cannot survive the simplest trips. At this point (after 4 pritners in a year) it is cheaper to go back and use the business center at the hotel no matter what it costs. At least I don't have to carry a broken printer in my breifcase or luggage. Get more detail about Canon PIXMA iP90v Photo Inkjet Printer (2238B002).

Canon imageCLASS D1150 Laser Multifunction Copier (3478B005AA) Top Quality

for a non-commercial grade machine, it definitely meets my expectations. it prints and copies quickly enough and the quality is absolutely fine. the energy saver mode keeps the machine quiet when not in use. it's easy to use, and it's nice having all the multifunctions in one unit. fyi, i initially had problems because my usb cable was ten feet long. the user manual does not warn of problems with long cables, but canon's fast and knowledgeable tech support folks solved that for me quickly. i'm a little annoyed that i must specify in the print dialogue box each time i want to use the manual feeder (aka multi purpose tray); the machine does not automatically detect paper in the manual feeder and print from it unless i first specify manual paper tray in my print dialogue box. it's nice to have the printer and fax available to my entire network via the cat 5 cable, but unless i'm mistaken, the only way to scan to your computer is through the usb cable, which meant that after installing the network drivers i installed the usb drivers and now have a confusing number of drivers in my print dialogue box drop down menu. i probably can remove the network drivers from the one computer that's connected via the usb, but i haven't tried that yet, and i wish the setup instructions made that clearer. also, the scans initially were coming out unacceptably faint until (again with the help of tech support) i lowered the scan resolution setting and changed from black-and-white to grayscale. the fax interface is a little annoying in that i can't access fax numbers from my outlook contacts and if i add an address to the canon fax address book there does not appear to be a way to delete it. overall, the machine is easy to use and performs with excellent quality. i am not disappointed.Get more detail about Canon imageCLASS D1150 Laser Multifunction Copier (3478B005AA).

Okidata 62426904 C3400n Color LED Printer Review

I received the printer promptly, and it was in good condition. The setup was fairly easy; I had difficulty setting it as default printer. After many attempts it finally accepted my directions. The printing is very good; color photos print quite nicely on ordinary printer paper. It will not print material that I have scanned on an HP scanner; I learned from Okidata tech support that this printer will not perform this function. Tech help is very good, and they speak EnglishGet more detail about Okidata 62426904 C3400n Color LED Printer.

Order HP LaserJet 2200 - Printer - B/W - laser - Legal, A4 - 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi - up to 18 ppm - capacity: 350 sheets - Parallel, USB, Infrared

I have used this printer at my office at work and have never had a single problem with it; virtually no paper jams, no errors, no problems of any sort!!!

I give it 4 out of 5 stars, though the printer does have a great deal of speed and function, it's built-in duplexing can tend to be slow, and mine developed a mouse-like squeak when doing duplex printing.

It's a great, reliable piece of printing power!Get more detail about HP LaserJet 2200 - Printer - B/W - laser - Legal, A4 - 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi - up to 18 ppm - capacity: 350 sheets - Parallel, USB, Infrared.

Purchase HP Color LaserJet 2840 All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax (Q3950A#ABA)

If an auto manufacturer built a car that would stop the moment it reached its 25,000 mile checkup threshold, it would be front page news. But that is what the HP 2840 does when it is low on toner, it just stops. I would prefer it let me know, but finish the job with less quality color. It causes undo stress when trying to meet a deadline.

Furthmore, this machine requires you to toggle its USB port on or off depending on whether you want to print or scan. A time-consuming menance.

Finally, I had many issues with printing large files when the machine would just stop printing in the middle of a 2nd or 3rd copy of a report. It would not provide me an error message, or ability to restart.

So this big piece of junk is off to the recycler along with the four toner cartridges I never used. Get more detail about HP Color LaserJet 2840 All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax (Q3950A#ABA).

Where To Buy Lexmark X6675 All-in-one Printer

I didn't buy this from amazon. I needed to use it that day, so I bought it from a brick-and-mortar store locally. I already had an all-in-one device, but I required the document feeder for the bulk scanning of documents. I've had this printer for the last 5 months or so, and it works great. I initially had some problems with scanning over my wireless network, but I've managed to correct this. I have only use the print/copy/scan functions (not the fax/photo functions), and I am very pleased with its functionality. Ink life is ok -- probably on par with other Lexmark inkjet printers.Get more detail about Lexmark X6675 All-in-one Printer.

Shop For Samsung CLP 300 Mini Personal Color Laser Printer

This is my second identical unit. The price is reasonable and the quality is acceptable. I had to replace the previous unit because a replacement drum was faulty and damaged the gears. The supplier replaced the drum at no charge but refused responsibility for the printer. They have proven to be dependable and do not warp heavy paper like my heavier duty lasers. I rely on Samsung whenever possible. They seem able to take abuse. Get more detail about Samsung CLP 300 Mini Personal Color Laser Printer.

Cheap Lexmark X4975 All In One Inkjet Printer

Straight out of the box this printer was different than the other, and for many good reasons. Luckily amazon was having this for a Gold Box deal so I made the jump and purchased this printer. Extremely easy to set up. For some reasons my computer's CD drive was cooperating with the CD, but luckily Lexmark had a website where i could download the driver for the printer and install it quickly.

Pros:
- Step By Step Setup (Even for wireless)
- Two XL ink cartridges provided free in box
- Quick integration with my home network
- More options than just basic Copy, Scan and Print
- Dual sided printing
- Above average printing speed

Cons:
- None... other than it being bigger than most other all-in-ones (so make some extra room for it)

All and all i was very happy with this printer, especially being able to hook 2 computers and a laptop to it and all print and scan perfectly and easily. I'd recommend this printer to anyone. Get more detail about Lexmark X4975 All In One Inkjet Printer.
