Epson Workforce 1100 Color Inkjet Wide Format Printer (C11CA58201) Best Quality

I needed a large-format inkjet that could do a great job on book covers, at a reasonable price. The Workforce 1100 handles the task extremely well.

I tested it with Inkpress Luster Duo, Double Sided Inkjet Paper 11x17 50 Sheets and two other Inkpress stocks. The results are amazing. The old saying may advise, "Don't judge a book by it's cover," but my books look utterly fantastic.

The 1100 handles up to 13 inch wide stock, so you can use the large 13x19 sheets if you need. That's big enough to print full-bleed 12x12 scrapbook pages, if you have scrapbookers in the family. In my case, I can create a full-bleed cover for an 8.5x11 inch book by using the 13x19 stock and trimming the edges after printing. Alternatively, you can use the same 13x19 paper to create full-bleed tabloid brochures, or even full-bleed data sheets (cut into two 8.5x11 pages).

The printer uses separate ink cartridges, which saves money. You don't toss out yellow and magenta ink when the cyan ink is gone.

Overall, a great printer if you want large format inkjet output. But you should be cautious that the paper stock you use measures up to the printer's capability:

We like the results with Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper for photos and glossy single sided materials. If you are creating covers, brochures or data sheets, invest in a heavier stock. Your document just won't feel right on regular office paper stock. In general, the larger the sheet, the heaver it needs to be to to not feel flimsy. I strongly recommend against using regular office paper for 11x17 printing, unless presentation and feel just don't matter.

Evaluate what the color of the stock can do for your project. For example Inkpress sells "Inkpress Rag, Warm Tone Double Sided, Cream White Matte Inkjet Paper" to impart a warm, almost antique look to some covers.

I've mentioned full-bleed a couple of times. This means printing color right off the edge of the page. You can create a full-bleed 11x17 brochure (folds down to four pages, 8.5x11) by printing a 12x18 image on 13x19 stock, then trimming the edges. The specs claim that this printer can print borderless 13x19 sheets, but I haven't tried it.

Five stars for completely solving my large format printing problem.

Addendum two days later: It's quieter than our previous HP & Epson inkjet printers. I don't understand the noise complaint mentioned by another reviewer. Get more detail about Epson Workforce 1100 Color Inkjet Wide Format Printer (C11CA58201).

Canon Pixma mini320 Compact Photo Inkjet Printer (2172B002) Immediately

I read the reviews before buying this printer and I was not disappointed in the quality of prints! They are amazing! I am, however, disappointed that I can't seem to get more than 70-80 prints out of one ink cartridge. That factor, along with the expense of even cheap photo paper, equals an expensive set of prints! I have resolved to print on it occasionally, but I continue to shop for online deals, such at 10 cents a print, because these turn out to be much cheaper in the long run.Get more detail about Canon Pixma mini320 Compact Photo Inkjet Printer (2172B002).

Epson Stylus Photo R280 Photo Printer This instant

My partner and I purchased this printer (not from Amazon) about 1 and 1/2 ago. Setup was EZ, We only printed 4 CDs and 8 Documents before it told us it was out of ink. My.... that was fast I thought? Cartridges cost 85.00 dollars (for all 6), and low and behold, the printer was out of ink again just after 15 days (15 documents, 4 photos and 2 CDs). All this for 85.00? No thanks. We noticed the printer spend more time cleaning itself than printing. Total Junk and Ink-thirsty. We dumped it.
and bought a laser (at least the toner didn't run out until 5 months - and we use it daily!)

Lexmark Prevail Pro705 Small Office Wireless 4-in-1 Review

I have owned and used my P705 for a month. Setup was easy, including wireless set up. I have used it for printing, copying and faxing. Ink usage seems good too. Used customer service once. The technician picked up the phone immediately and used Lexmark's version of "net meeting" to observe and fix a minor issue. No complaints on this excellent printer.Get more detail about Lexmark Prevail Pro705 Small Office Wireless 4-in-1.

Shop For HP CP2025DN Color LaserJet Printer

I was looking for a printer that was primarily going to be used to make DVD album covers which includes detailed graphics, small text and high quality pictures. I originally bought the Brother 4040cdn but took it back b/c the print quality was sub par for my needs. I instead bought the HP CP2025 and I'm glad I did. The print quality for this machine is great. The time between pressing print on the computer to actually getting a print is very slow but worth the wait.Get more detail about HP CP2025DN Color LaserJet Printer.

Canon PIXMA MX7600 Office All-in-One Printer

Having owned a 7600 for a year now my biggest complaint is that it goes through ink very rapidly and the heads get clogged very easyily, forcing you to use even more ink to do a cleaning about every-other print job if it sits for more than a couple days without printing. This has always been my biggest complaint about ink-jet printers which is why I also have a color laser printer for most of my color printing. I bought this primarily for faxing and scanning but even those features wont work if any of the ink cartridges are empty. A year later, after running all over town to 6 different stores of major office-supply chains I discovered sadly, that ink is only available online. Pretty annoying!

Where To Buy Brother DCP-7040 Laser Multi-Function Copier with Auto Document Feeder

My only complaint with this printer comes when I try to print envelopes. That's not a surprise because this is the forth printer I have owned and none of them have reliably printed envelopes. I expected better from this one because it is designed for a small business or home office. When printing an envelope, it requires some skill to insert the envelope in the front sheet feed. After some practice, I think I've mastered that, but what's not good is that during printing it slightly crumples the envelope even though it is a straight through print.

As far as the other functions, I have had no problems with the printer or the copier. I've only tried the scanner once and it seemed to work fine.

My take away is that if you have a small business or home office and need to print envelopes, you may want to think twice. Otherwise, I think this is a quality multifunction printer at a good price.Get more detail about Brother DCP-7040 Laser Multi-Function Copier with Auto Document Feeder.

Order HP A636 Compact Photo Printer

While I didn't buy this from Amazon, I have to say this is one of the coolest little photo printers I have ever seen. It took me 5 minutes to be up and printing great quality 4x6 and 5x7 pictures from the time I opened the box, stripped off the packing tape and cardboard, loaded the cartridge, plugged it in and powered it on...connection to my PC and installation of the driver software was flawless (and wow, I have Windows Vista Home Premium, 64-bit no less :-) ). This printer comes with everything you need, EVEN the USB cable! What a refreshing change in printer purchasing! The only con is that the cartridge that comes with this printer has a "10 print" limit as it is just a demo cartridge, my recommendation would be to buy the 110 cartridge at the same time you buy this (and the screen on the printer even warns you about the demo cartridge, so you aren't surprised by that issue - good thinking HP!).

GREAT PRODUCT! Way to go HP! AWESOME 4x6 and 5x7 photo quality!

Buy Samsung CLP-315 Color Laser Printer

The Samsung CLP-315 Laser printer is great for my use. I am a college student living on my own - and I needed a way to print out course materials without taking out a loan for ink cartridges. I have had it almost a year and I enjoy it. It set up easy, doesn't take up much space (no more than my Lexmark 5200 series inkject) and handles the tasks I throw at it just fine. When printing in black and white, the printer zips along while color is a little slower. Some complain of the initial warm up time, but working in an office with laser printers, this the Samsung is quicker.

Here's the trick. Print your day-to-day stuff in black and white. It is cheaper to replace 1 cartridge than 4. Save the color for something important. In 10 months of moderately heavy printing, I am just now being warned to replace the b&w toner while the 3 color cartridges are at 80%.

It prints photos OK but is more geared towards presentation materials and documents. This is not a photo printer - I kept my lexmark injet for that.

My only wish is that it had a larger paper tray. It holds about 150 sheets which ALWAYS runs out in the middle of a job.Get more detail about Samsung CLP-315 Color Laser Printer.

Cheap Canon Selphy CP780 Blue Compact Photo Printer

The Selphy printer prints turn out quite nice, but I had a few issues.

Pros:
Easy of use
Good quality
Small and light
Speed is decent (the new ink jets are now faster then the Selphy)
Great price for the printer, I even found it at the local store for the same price as Amazon

Cons:
not quite 4X6 prints (the are slightly smaller)
only holds 18 sheets of paper at atime
Ink and paper is kind of expensive, and not always easy to find.
The highest amount of prints per ink package is 36 (that's the biggest ink ribbon I found).

If you need a true 4X6 printer, then this will not work, and if you need to print large quantities, this is not a good printer for the job.

Cheapest HP A826 Home Photo Printer

I am a Kodak girl through-and-through. Kodak camera, Kodak Easyshare software, Kodak printer. Of everything, the only weak item was my printer. I stood behind it as long as I could, but it finally crapped out on me for the last time. After seeing all the dismal reviews for their latest line of printers, I started looking elsewhere...enter this little piece of printing heaven!

Words cannot express just how much I love this printer. I've had it two weeks now and have printed about a million pictures. When I first received it, I couldn't hook it up to my computer since I didn't have the correct size USB cable handy...no worries. I had about 10 photos still on my SD card in my camera and printed those out. It was SO EASY! Just like using the big kiosk's that you see at Wal-Mart.

The next day I got my USB, hooked it up to my computer, and was THRILLED to see I could just as easily print out all my past photos that are on my Kodak program (I initially downloaded the HP software, but figured, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I love my Kodak program, so I ended up uninstalling the HP one without ever using it). The clarity of my photos, and the richness of the colors are absolutely AMAZING! I print all my photos with the white boarder (tends to class-up the pictures a bit IMO), and it never cuts into the actual photo. I love that I can just unplug this, and bring it anywhere. We're heading to Disney next month, and I'm DEFINITELY bringing this with us to use in the camper!

I am sooooo glad I bought this, and, as you can see, absolutely recommend this to anyone whose interested! I still love my Kodak camera and software, but man did they drop the ball with their photo printers...luckily for me, HP was there to pick it back up!Get more detail about HP A826 Home Photo Printer.

Discount Canon imageCLASS D480 Laser All-in-One Printer (2711B054AA)

This compact little unit can fax, copy, scan and print and it will even do so with 2-sided documents. It will print up to 23 pages per minute. It has a low power standby mode and it will quickly power up and is ready for use in several seconds. It can be set-up on a network quite easily. It's Super G3 fax is quick and reliable. One of the few problems I have with this machine is that the number buttons are harder to push than most other units and often it will cause you to retype the number while sending faxes. This is a great machine for someone that works at home or even and small to medium size office but there are better options for large offices. The only other problem I have with the unit is the cost of the replacement toner cartridges. Each cartridge will only print about 2000 pages at 5% coverage and they are really costly. Save Epson WorkForce 30 Color Printer (Black) (C11CA19201)

I've been using printers of many kinds for more years than I care to remember. Suffice to say, I once owned a Daisy Wheel printer :). In recent years I have mostly purchased Epsons for my ink jet needs (higher end photo printing and printing on CDs) because I'm comfortable with their software interface, I like the individual replaceable ink tanks and the products have generally worked well for me. The water resistance of Epson's current DuraBright inks is also a big plus to me.

When the Amazon Vine program offered my a WorkForce 30 to review I jumped on it. The main selling point of this printer is the idea that it can be just as fast as a small laser printer. I was quite skeptical of this claim, so I set about testing it in my own environment. I'm using a 2-3 year old Dual Processor XP based system, which is pretty middle of the road for modern systems. Pretty good hardware, but certainly not the latest and greatest.

My everyday workhorse printer is an aging HP LaserJet 3150 combination printer, fax & monochrome scanner. For my test I pulled up two typical documents in Microsoft Word 2003. Document one was a three page primarily text instructional document with a number of photographic illustrations mixed in. On this test document my 3150 laser printer took 46 seconds start to finish to print one copy while the WorkForce 30 took almost twice as long at about 80 seconds.

For the second test I opened a four page all text document in Arial 12 point font. The laser printer took 54 seconds to crank this one out while is a similar time per page as for the mixed text/graphics document. However, on this text only document the WorkForce 30 trounced the laser printer by clocking only 30 seconds to output the same four pages. Text quality from the WorkForce 30 was very good, but close examination still gives the quality edge to the old laser printer. Unless you are comparing the two side by side you would probably never know the difference.

Water resistance of both the laser and the WorkForce 30 output was excellent. I put sheets from both under running water in our bathroom sink. The paper got soggy and fell apart before the ink could degrade. Horrible water resistance has been the bane of most ink jet output for a very, very long time; I'm glad to see that Epson has licked the water problem.

If very fast text printer at a low price is important to you, then this printer might be the ticket. Water resistant output is a huge benefit as well. Besides the fast text output, it does everything one would expect an ink jet printer in this class to do. Changing just one ink cartridge at a time saves money. I'll never have another printer which uses "color" print cartridges with tiny amounts of each color all bound up into one unit. My last HP ink jet went to an early grave because it was absurdly expensive to run.

I would think that college students dashing out the door at the last minute to hand in a paper will appreciate the speed and low running costs of this unit, and the ability the ability to deal with liquids!

Hint: If you have this printer, buy the "high capacity" # 68 refills, not the low capacity # 69 refills.

By the way, this makes an absolutely killer check printer for use with QuickBooks. Spits the things out so fast it is almost scary. Watch the money fly out the door ...

Low Price HP PhotoSmart C4480 All-in-One Printer (Q8388A)

When I actually get this printer to print, one black and white page, or a color page, it is good.
However, more often than not I have the following problems and I hate this printer and would never buy an HP again:
- doesn't recognize the printer (i'm on a mac, maybe it's a mac thing)
- i push the scan button, handy feature, BUT never recognizes the printer so I"m no connected. I have to scan by using the software NOT the button on the printer
- when I print in fast draft (NOTE - fast, not super fast, or the highest setting) the printer sucks several pieces of HP paper (note that) in to the printer at the same time and ALWAYS jams. I can only print slow.
- Not intuitive (if even capable) to scan several docs as one large PDF file.
- Every time I turn on the printer it asks me to print an alignment page. (waste of paper and my ink).
I print it and scan it but it's NEVER right... what the hell.

Would not buy.
Give away if you get it for free.
I did as part of buying my Mac.

This printer has wasted so much of my time, I will never buy, or even use if I get for free, an HP printer again.

Epson Stylus NX415 All-in-One Printer Right now

I have to say I was surprised at how rickety this printer was. It's got a very cheap feel. You put the paper in and think it's going to jam as it hems and haws, grabbing the paper and releasing it, doing all kinds of things before it actually feeds (and many times it does jam). Plus, it constantly thinks something is wrong with the printer cartridges. Well, they're the ones that came with the printer, and they're brand new, so I just keep messing with things until it recognizes them and prints. Very annoying though. Copying is easy. I haven't tried scanning yet. It is a little slow, but print quality is fine. For the money, it does function, but I also think that in the same price range you might be able to get something a little less flimsy. Don't forget to get a USB cord if you don't have one; I forgot, and was lucky I had my old printer to "steal" it from. Get more detail about Epson Stylus NX415 All-in-One Printer.

Lowest Price Canon MP980 Wireless All-in-One Photo Printer

Unfortunately, this printer had not been out long enough for users to see its big downside when I read reviews before buying it.

I have no particular problem with its quality, ease of set-up or wireless function.

However, like other reviewers, I have found its biggest downsides are its high consumption of ink, the length of time it takes to prepare for a document or a print (all the time spewing ink) and the unavailability of the gray ink cartridge at local stores. One would have thought that Canon would have tried to distinguish itself by creating a more efficient and cost effective device, but that is not the case.

I would not buy this product again.

Brother HL-5370DWT Laser Printer with Wireless Networking, Duplex and Dual Paper Trays Order Now

This printer is a bargain for the price. Print speed is OK, a little slow to warm up. Print quality is excellent. The duplex feature and ability to hold a full reem of paper is nice. Set up for a network printer was difficult. Tried the wireless set up and it was impossible. To be fair, it may be that our wireless SSID is not broadcast as a security measure. Gave up trying to network the printer through a wireless connection and went to a wired connection. It took some doing but I finally got it to show up on the network. Network connection instructions were poor at best. This is a noisy printer.Get more detail about Brother HL-5370DWT Laser Printer with Wireless Networking, Duplex and Dual Paper Trays.
