I wanted an all in one laser unit that was as small as possible. Although it has scanning capacities I don't need this since I also have a full size scanner. The print and faxing capabilities are good as I have the unit connected via Ethernet to Win Vista and Mac OS 10 (latest version) computers. I used the Brother install disks for each computer. At one point I lost the network connection on the Mac and had to use the USB port. Later I lost the Vista network connection. I went back and tried setting up the network connections on both computers again and was successful. For whatever reason the Mac couldn't see the printer at one point and then later it could. With the Win computer I just deleted the original Brother icon and Vista found it the next time.
